In application tailoring,
computation optimization is the task of selecting the best fit implementation of
a filter: the implementation that maximizes a metric,
such as throughput in bytes per second, selected by the application.
If we say that the fitness value is to be maximized - which is
certainly true for throughput - the task is to find all possible
combinations of executable filter implementation and computation space and
select the highest ranking pair.
